Original ending to Conquest of the Planet of the Apes

After Caesar delevers his speech, the Apes raise their rifles to Breck to beat him to death. Lisa then says " no ", the second ape to speak other than Caesar. And then Caesar makes another speech showing a degree of mercy. This left test audiences with the hope of peaceful co-existence between apes and humans. This was also done in hopes the movie would get a "G" rating by the MPAA. But with the violent dark side, it got a PG rating. However the ORIGIONAL ending consisted of Caesar making his speech then the apes proceed to beat Breck to death with their rifles. The test audiences reacted badly to this so the studio re-edited the ending with the existing footage. The re-dubbing consisted of Lisa saying "no", and Roddy McDowall's new speech of mercy. Fox Movie Channel shows this ending and it is found on the 5-disc Blu-ray Disc set to commerate the 40th anniversary of Planet of the Apes which shows a more dark violent battle with more blood which was cut in favor of the PG audience. This version is yet to be realeased on DVD.

The Tempest (1960 TV) Maurice Evans + Richard Burton 1/8

sure, this production suffers from many cuts and "simplification" of Shakespeare's language--but some fine performances! Maurice Evans (3 June 1901 12 March 1989) was an English actor acclaimed for his Shakespearean performances in the 1930s and 40s, most especially some famous productions on Broadway, and his pioneering television Shakespeare productions in the 1950s. But he is even better known (in America) as Samantha's father on the sitcom "Bewitched" and as the Puzzler on "Batman". Maurice Evans ... Prospero Lee Remick ... Miranda Roddy McDowall ... Ariel Liam Redmond ... Gonzalo

"Messaline" by Aleister Crowley (poetry reading)

He wanted to be Chess Champion of the World, and there's no doubt that he was a very good player. He was called "The Wickedest Man In the World." by the press, which amused him no end. He lived a full, interesting life but it's hard to take anything he said seriously. He was very intelligent and a great showman, but his life and work is marred by an overwhelming desire to astound people. Messaline is an architype of female lust. Valeria Messalina (20 48) was a Roman Empress, wife of Emperor Claudius. Her promiscuity was such that psychiatrists named a syndrome after her: Messalina Syndrome is a form of nymphomania. Crowley said that Queen Elisabeth was a Messaline. Pliny records her all-night sex competition with a prostitute. Here she is in "I, Claudius" uk.youtube.com Juvenal said of her in Satire VI: "Then, her black hair hidden under an ash-blonde wig, she'd make straight for her brothel, with its stale, warm coverlets, and her empty reserved cell. Here, naked, with gilded nipples, she plied her trade, under the name of 'The Wolf-Girl', parading the belly that once housed a prince of the blood. She would greet each client sweetly, demand cash payment, and absorb all their battering - without ever getting up. Too soon the brothel-keeper dismissed his girls: she stayed right till the end, always last to go, then trailed away sadly, still with burning, rigid vulva, exhausted by men, yet a long way from satisfied, cheeks grimed with lamp-smoke, filthy, carrying home to ...

Movie Review: Fright Night (2011)

Not as good as the 1985 original cult classic, but still a cut above the average horror remake. Not as serious and epic as in the trailer, but a fun ride with a great performance from Colin Ferrell as Jerry the vampire neighbor to Charley Brewster (Anton Yelchin). 7.5/10

Macbeth w Orson Welles 2/3

Shot in 23 days for Republic Pictures on standing "B" Western sets. Welles pre-recorded his actors speaking the dialogue in thick Scottish accents which proved difficult for the preview audiences so the studio had him re-dub it in "plain" English and then cut twenty minutes from the film. It bombed on release and Welles spent the next ten years working in Europe.
