A Very Special Buck Rogers in the 25th Century

Tonight on a very special Buck Rogers in the 25th Century, Buck tells the mutant Varek not to be so hard on himself, and shows spaceport floozy Markie Post that "everybody doesn't hurt everybody." From Season 1, Episode 6, "The Plot to Kill a City, Part 1." Airdate 11 Oct 1979. The character actors in every episode are top-of-the-line. Jack Palance, Peter Graves, Roddy McDowell, Buster Crabbe, Cesar Romero, Richard Lynch. This episode had Frank Gorshin, Markie Post, Robert Tessier (the bald thug from Longest Yard and dozens of tv shows). No, they didn't actually advertise this episode as "a very special Buck Rogers" as far as I know. But Buck dispenses a lot of ham-handed pop psychology throughout the series. Other episodes focus on discrimination against deaf and older people. Buck opposes slavery and takes other positions that might have been mildly progressive 10-20 years before this was filmed.
